OFFICIAL SUMMARY
Chairperson George Houtman called the Board of Adjustment meeting to order on Thursday,
December 20, 2018, at 5:00 PM in the Chambers Room of the City & County Government
Center. Members present were Teresa Binkley, Justin Borns, Dustin Edmison, Nick
Schmeichel, Jeremy Scott and Houtman. Others present were City Planner Staci Bungard,
Community Development Director Mike Struck, Brad Peterson, and others.
Items #4a — Brad Peterson explained that he currently has a 44' wide driveway and he would
need the new driveway to be 40' wide to allow him to back and park his semi truck and trailer.
Struck stated that 20th Street South is set to be re -constructed in 2019. By expanding this
road, it will cut into Peterson's current driveway. Due to this road project, a new driveway will
need to be installed and the City is installing concrete drives into the properties along this
project area.
Binkley asked how much of the lots the city will be taking. Struck explained the diagram of
the project. Houtman asked if two smaller curb cuts could be installed instead. Struck
explained that only one drive is allowed. Schmeichel asked why the current drive is out of
compliance. Bungard stated that city staff isn't sure why this happened.
Borns asked if this driveway will affect the drainage coming from the west move east. Struck
stated no, they may need to just extend the culvert.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:23 p.m.
