in the City & County Government Center at 520 3rd Street.
Item #5a - Winter Operations - Sommerfeld reported that there were several
snow events since the last meeting. The windrows are getting large and may
start causing issues. They have been using the blower to clear the snow from the
lights and the tops of the windrows. Riedesel wondered if the snow could be
hauled away. Sommerteld stated that the depth of the windrows is the
problem. He has spoken with the Street Department but they are behind on their
snow removal also. But they would be able to assist at the airport once they are
caught up.
Sommerteld stated that the Priority 1 service areas are down to a 2 hour time
frame for snow removal.
Due to the significant number of snow events, airport staff hasn't been able to
work on the GCO or Beacon.
Item #5b - Helms Update - Mike Schmidt from Helms explained that they have
submitted the Plans and Specifications for the Apron project to the FAA. They
haven't received any comments back yet. The plan is still to bid in 2019 and
have the construction be next year, 2020.
The tie down area may be in the plans for this Fall due to the conditions of the
tie downs and the asphalt. The tie downs would be temporary and would not
be available during the winter months.
Mike met with Jackie, Matt and SDSU staff to discuss a potential hangar site for
SDSU. They have outgrown the hangar that they are in due to the increase in
their fleet. With this, Helms is also working on plans for a new taxiway area for
the SDSU proposed hangar. They are finishing plans for the sanitary sewer
project and those plans should be submitted to the City next week.
Item #5c - Airport Board Report - Sommerfeld reviewed the Airport Board Report
with those in attendance. He also noted that he would like to start using an !Pad
to issue NOTAM's, real time. The FAA inspector will be here again in April.
(Smidt/Baker) Motion to approve the 2018 Airport Board Report. All present
voted aye. MOTION CARRIED.
Items #6 Airport Manager's Report - The GCO is still having issues and this will
continue until the antenna gets moved. The ILS has some major issues with an
underground cable. They are continue to work on this. And the Beacon is on
the list of things to work on once snow removal is caught up. He thinks the
lubricant being used is freezing up.

plane for their fleet. They are good on instructors for now. SDSU will be offering
a Private Pilot and Instructor class this summer.
