A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE OF A
SUITABLE ACCESS ROAD TO THE NEW LANDFILL.
WHEREAS, an improved road will be necessary for access to the new
City landfill; and
WHEREAS, the City and County are mutually interested in the
construction and maintenance of an adequate road to the City landfill;
and
WHEREAS, officials of the County of Brookings and the City of
Brookings have discussed the sharing of costs for the construction and
maintenance of said road;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF BROOKINGS, SOUTH
DAKOTA:
That the City of Brookings will agree to maintain a newly
constructed road from Beckmans Corner to the new landfill, which
maintenance will include crack sealing and pothole repairs, snow
removal and chip sealing upon the condition that the County of
Brookings construct a paved roadway from Beckmans Corner to the new
landfill.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the County of Brookings shall pay for
all construction costs pertaining to said road and that the City of
Brookings will pay for all of the aforesaid maintenance costs
pertaining to said road.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor is authorized and directed
to enter into a mutual agreement which shall incorporate all provisions
of this Resolution.
