WHEREAS, the City of Brookings has been concerned about the solid
waste issue for a number of years; and
WHEREAS, the City of Brookings has already purchased land for a
new landfill; and
WHEREAS, the new site has been tested, a landfill design
completed and a permit obtained; and
WHEREAS, the new landfill will be operational in the fall of 1993
or the spring of 1994; and
WHEREAS, the City of Brookings is already serving as a regional
landfill and will continue to serve as a regional landfill;
THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that it is not in the best interest
of the City of Brookings to participate in the feasibility study for
the South Dakota Landfill.
