ESTABLISHIRG MOHTHLY CHARGES FOR COLLECTIOH AHD CHARGES FOR DISPOSAL
OF REFUSE IH THE CITY OF BROOKINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF BROOKINGS AS FOLLOWS, TO-WIT:
I. Monthlv Charaes for Familv Domestic Units
The cost of collection and disposal of refuse for family domestic
units shall become a charge against the occupant of each dwelling and
shall be paysble monthly together with other public service charges as
defined by this city. A fair and reasonable charge for the collection
of the contents of not more than two (2) cans or two (2) sealed bags
at each regular collection time, from each domestic unit shall be ten
dollars (810. 00) per month. The monthly charge shall be based upon
twice a aeek pickup.
II. Monthlv CharQes for Commercial Establishments
The cost of the collection and disposal of refuse from commercial
establishments or the public schools or any other institution or
facility not otherwise classified herein shall become a charge against
the occupant of such commercial establishment and ahall be payable
monthly together with other public services as defined by this city.
A fair and reasonable charge for the aollection of the contents shall
be a minimum of twenty-f ive dollars (525. 00) per month for f ive (5)
cans or five (5) sealed bags Nith an additional charge of five dollars
(55. 00) per can or sealed bag thereafter. Seid charges being based
upon twice a xeek pickup.
Apartments and other institutions or facilities utilizing
containers for trash receptacles, shall be charged forty-one dollars
tS41. 00) per month for a one and one-half ( 1 1/2) cubic yard
container, fifty-two dollars (852. 00) per month for a two (2) cubic
yard container, sixty-three dollars (563. 00) per month for a three (3)
cubic yard container and seventy-four dollars (574. 00) per month for a
four (4) cubic yard container. Said charges shall be based upon s
twice a Neek pickup. The charge for each additional pickup per week
at the same location Nithout the necessity of moving the collection
vehicle shall be twenty dollars (520. 00).
III. Monthlv Charues for State Institutions
The cost of the the disposal of refuse from a state institution
or facility located within the city, which institution or facility
maintains its own collection service, shall be at the same rate or
charge imposed upon licensed commercial garbage haulers, as provided
in paragraph IV and which rate or charge shall be imposed on each load
whether the same be a partial or a full load. The landfill supervisor
shall keep a monthly record of the number of loads brought to the
sanitary landfill each month by a state institution and said
institution shall be billed at the end of each calendar month on the
basis of the number of loads of refuse brought to the sanitary
landfill during the prior month.

IV. Charqes for Use
Each licensed aommercial hauler and each commercial establishment
hauling its own garbage, rubbish and waste material shall pay to the
city for the uae of the sanitary landfill, per vehicle load, the
following charges:
(a) For loose loads of more that tpo (2) cubic yards, the sum of
five dollars (55. 00) will be charged per cubic ysrd of waste or
material. Minimum fee will be five dollars (55. 00>.
(b) For all commercial compactor trucks, the sum of eight
dollars (58. 00) will be charged per cubic yard per rated
capacity.
(c) When the scale is operational, waste material will be
twenty-four dollars (524. 00) per ton. The minimum fee vill
become five dollars (55. 00) based on 400 pounds or less.
V. Landfill Charaes for Special Waste
Each hauler of special waste including tires, asbestos and
petroleum contaminated soil shall pay to the City of Brookings for the
use of the landfill, the following charges:
(a) For Tires
( 1 ) passenger car tires 8 2. 00
(2) light pickup tires S 3. 00
t3) truck tires 5 7. 00
(4) tractor tires 820. 00
(b) For asbestos
( 1 ) per bag S 5. 00
(2) per cubic yerd 530. 00
(c) For petroleum contaminated soil
( 1 ) per cubic yard S 7. 50
VI. Tires
No tires will be colleated on city garbage pickup routes. Tires
may be disposed of at the landfill at the prices listed in V. (a)
( 1-4).
VII. Atopliances
White goods having freon will be seven and one-half dollars
(S7. 50) per appliance.
