WHEREAS, the area surrounding South Dakota State University
Campus have changed considerably since the adoption of the
Comprehensive Plan in 1966, and new etudies are neceseary to protect
the present uses in the area; and to ineure that future construction
and uses are compatlble Mith the present character of the area and
compatible aith the character of the present structures in the area;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Brookings deems it appropriate to consider
and re-evaluate the Comprehensive Plan pertaining to the folloMing
deecribed district, to-Nit:
Commencing at the interaection of Sixth Street and Sixteenth
Avenue, thence west along Sixth Street to the corner of Sixth
Avenue; thence north along Sixth Avenue to the corner of Eleventh
Street; thence east along Eleventh Street to the aorner of Medary
Avenue; thence south along Medary Avenue to the corner of Eighth
Street; thence esst along Eighth Street to the corner of
Sixteenth Avenue; thence south along Sixteenth Avenue to the
point of beginning.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Planning Commission of the City of Brookinge
is hereby directed to conduct a study and evaluation of the zoning and
uses in the ebove described area and to provide its report and results
of said study on a monthly basis to include progrese as Mell as
intentions on the fourth Tueeday of each month to the City Commission.
The Planning Commiseion is also directed to prepare any
recommendations they may have pertaining to the zoning in said area,
said report and recommendations to be made to the City Commission
within one (1) year from the date of the adoption of this Resolution.
