STORM SEWER MAINTENANCE POLICY WITH MUNICIPAL UTILITIES
WHEREAS, the City of Brookings believes that it would be in the best interest of the City to
have storm sewers inspected, cleaned and maintained on a regular maintenance schedule
AND WHEREAS, the Brookings Municipal Utilities has the proper equipment, personnel and
experience to provide said maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis
NOW, TI�REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the governing body of the City of Brookings that
the Brookings Municipal Utilities be requested to perform such regular maintenance to be paid for from
the Storm Drainage Fund as authorized by the Street Department Superintendent.
FUR'THERMORE, in order to facilitate said maintenance the City Commission hereby
authorizes the transfer of the Street Department Sewer Vacuum truck to the Utilities, and if requested
by the Utilities, authorizes the transfer of up to $140,000 from storm drainage funds to assist the
Utilities in buying a new sewer vacuum truck. The future cost of storm sewer maintenance operations
conducted by the Utilities will be applied to reduce the obligation of utility repayment of the transfer
from the storm sewer fund.
