HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 75-1997 RESOLUTION NO. 75-97 TOWN MEETING ON PRESERVATION AND PLANNING WHEREAS, the City of Brookings has determined that the historical, architectural, archaeological, and cultural heritage of this community are among its most important assets; and WI-�REAS, the City of Brookings created a Historic Preservation Commission in 1985 to promote the inspiration, pleasure, and enrichment of the citizens of this city and to preserve, promote and develop the historical resources; and WHEREAS, the Brookings Historic Preservation Commission has invited Brookings citizens to represent the community at-large for an intensive planning workshop, "Town Meeting on Preservation and Planning", on September 15, 1997. Participants will work together to identify sources of community pride, and develop strategies to enhance assets, and lessen liabilities. This process will provide the foundation for a comprehensive city-wide preservation plan; and WHEREAS, an historic preservation plan is an effective means of planning for the preservation and protection of a community's character and historic resources. A preservation plan is like a map which allows for multiple ways of reaching a community development destination. It describes the importance of preservation to the community, and identifies those elements of the built landscape which merit preservation, promotion, or protection. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, to date, the following Brookings citizens have confirmed their availability to participate in the Town Meeting on Preservation and Planning on September 15, 1997: Harold Bailey, Joe Bonnemann, Mary Bibby, Kristi Bloom, Kay Cheever, Tom Coughlin Dorothy Butler, Deb Dominiack, Joanne Dorn, Lynne Darnall, Allyn Frerichs, Norman Gambill, Ron Einspahr, Bert Getz, Dan Hanson, Nancy Flynn, Don Patrick, Kyle Prodoehl Jean Jostad, Mike Reger, Gail Robertson, Shannon Olson, Kevin Tetzlaff, Jim Winterboer Eric Rasmussen, Tom Yseth, and Robb Sexauer Passed and approved this 19th day of August, 1997.
