WHEREAS, the Brookings Public Library is submitting an application for a Library
Services and Construction Act Technology Enhancement Grant in the amount of$78,000 and
WHEREAS, the City of Brookings and the Brookings Library Board assure the following
statements:
that the City of Brookings will fund the 50% match required by the grant ($39,000);
that sufficient funding will be available from the second penny sales tax to fund the library
expansion project ($2.6 million);
that the Brookings Public Library staff will be paid at least minimum wage;
that the Brookings Public Library will be open more than 15 hours per week;
that the library building will continue to be devoted to public library purposes for not less
than twenty years;
that the Brookings Public Library will continue to be a full member in the South Dakota
Library Network;
that upon completion of the project, sufficient funds will be available to operate the
library;
that the Brookings Public Library has unconditional use of the site and the building
housing the library, and
WHEREAS, Tracy Dahl-Webb, Human Resource Officer for the City of Brookings, will
be responsible for certifying Davis-Bacon compliances.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Mayor Wayne A. Hauschild be authorized
to sign the application for the LSCA Title II Library Construction Crrant.
