APPROVING THE MULTI-PURPOSE AGRI-PLEX COMPLEX
WHEREAS, extensive studies have been conducted relative to the feasibility and
desirability of the construction and operation of a multi-purpose agriplex complex to be
constructed on approximately thirty-five(35) acres of City owned property east of I-29 and north
of Highway 14, and
WHEREAS, the City has heretofore applied for and been granted a $500,000.00 grant
form the Economic Development Administration of the United States Government as a critical
part of said agriplex project, and
WHEREAS, the City has, in Resolution No. 115-96, heretofore expressed its intention to
dedicate the sum of 2 million dollars from increased revenues derived from the additional penny
sales tax recently adopted and approved by the voters in the City of Brookings, and
WHEREAS, the agriplex project sha11 enhance the agricultural development and benefit
the entire community of the City of Brookings, no therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that the development and construction of the agriplex project be and
the same is hereby approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the sum of 2 million dollars from the revenues of the
increased sales tax approved in Ordinance No. 25-96, shall be dedicated for the development and
construction of said project.
