HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 11-1997 ., � • RESOLiTTION NO. 11-97 AUTHORIZING BROOKINGS PUBLIC LIBRARY EXPANSION WHEREAS, the City of Brookings has heretofore adopted Ordinance No. 25-96 constituting an additional one penny sales tax, 75% of said proceeds to be used for capital improvements which involve the construction and financing of public buildings, and WHEREAS, said Ordinance No. 25-96 was referred to a vote of the people and that same was approved by the citizens of Brookings on a special election held on February 1 l, 1997, and WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Brookings adopted Resolution 115-96 setting forth the intent of the City of Brookings to utilize the additional sales tax funds for the Brookings Public Library expansion and other community projects, and WHEREAS, the Brookings Library board and staff have demonstrated a significant need for a 16,000 square foot addition to the existing library facilities, now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the governing body of the City of Brookings that the library expansion project for the City of Brookings is hereby approved. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that 2.6 million of the revenues from the increased sales tax shall be dedicated and used for the Brookings Public Library expansion. Passed and approved this 25th day of February, 1997.
