RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO.1 —ITEM 1, 2, 3,4 AND 5
FOR BROOKINGS LIBRARY EXPANSION AND IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission that the following change order be allowed
for the Brookings Library Expansion and Improvement Project:

Omit smoke seals and change hardware. Subtract $ (273.00)
Omit lites and glass Subtract $ (470.00)

Dear Elvita:
Please review Change Order 1 Item 1. This change order includes several parts. After
reviewing the proposal,we recommend that you accept Item la, lb,2a, and 3. We
recommend that you rej ect Items 1 c and 2b. The purpose of items 1 c and 2b was to
reduce the cost of the change order. The changes were actually an add or a no-cost
change;therefore,we recommend that you delete these items for the change order. The

Dear Elvita:
Please review Change Order 1 Items 2, 3,4 and 5. We have reviewed the costs for these
items and the costs appear reasonable.
Change Order 1 Item 2 is a requirement of the Municipal Utilities. They requested that
the abandoned water service lines be disconnected at the water main.
Change Order 1 Item 3 is the result of some unforeseen concrete foundations. The
contractor discovered an old concrete foundation when they were installing the new water
service. The extra demolition created approximately two days of extra work.
Change Order 1 Item 4 is the result of increasing the capacity of the building support
system to handle the extra loading when the book stacks are temporarily relocated to the
second floor.
� - Change Order 1 Item 5 is needed to replace the glass in the existing east and south - - - -
windows. The existing glass does not meet current code requirements. In addition,the
seals were broken on ti�e insulating glass when the glass was replaced for the temporary
+ entrance.
