AUTHORIZING AN INCREASE IN THE FUNDING FOR THE BROOKINGS PUBLIC LIBRARY
EXPANSION
WHEREAS, on February 25, 1997, Resolution No. 11-97 authorized the sum of two million, six
hundred thousand dollars ($2,600,000.00) from the second penny sales tax to be allocated for development and
construction for the Brookings Public Library Expansion,
WHEREAS, additional funds in the amount of up to $200,000.00 are being requested from the second
penny sales tax to finance additional necessities such as a fire sprinkler system, an enhanced electrical system
and for any other unforeseeable expenses, now,therefore
BE IT RESOLVED that in the best interest of the community and all taxpayers that the Library
Expansion be constructed expeditiously in a manner which will be best for all concerned.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that 2.8 million dollars of the revenues from the second penny sales tax
shall be dedicated and used for the Brookings Public Library expansion.
Passed and approved this 20th day of January, 1998.
