AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES FOR DESIGN OF TRENCH E3
AND CONSTRUCTION QUALITY ASSURANCE FOR TRENCH 3E AT TI�
LANDFILL
BE IT RESOLVED By the City of Brookings, South Dakota that the City Council
hereby approves said agreement, which authorizes up to $ 46,500 in engineering services
from Burns and McDonnell of Kansas City, Missouri.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the City Manager be authorized to sign the
Agreement on behalf of the City of Brookings.
Passed and approved this l lth day of September, 2000.

RE: Resolution Authorizing Engineering Services for Landfill
The resolution authorizing engineering services for landfill design and construction
quality assurance for Trench 3 East has been E-Mailed to Brenda and Shari.
The design work will be done this fall so that the State Department of Environmental
and Natural Resources can review the design before construction. The goal is to go to
bids during February or March of 2001 with actual construction to begin in April or May.
The engineering services include design, preparing the bid specifications, and testing
the compaction density during the construction phase of the liner.
Total costs will not be more than $ 46,500.00.
The landfill uses Burns& McDonnell out of Kansas City, Missouri because they
specialize in landfill design,permitting and construction. We have had them involved
with the City of Brookings Landfill since the original siting/permitting stages in the late
1980's. They have all the design,topography etc. already in the computer,therefore it is
considerably easier for them to work on the landfill design.
