A RESOLUTION OF THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF
BROOHINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA, DECLARING AN OFFICIAL INTENT TO USE A
PORTION OF THE 75% OF THE REVENUES FROM THE 1% OF MUNICIPAL
5ALES TAX AND SERVICE AND USE TAX FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A DOUBLE
ICE RINK AND AN ANIMAL HOLDING BARN FACILITY ADJACENT TO THE
EXISTING MULTIPLEX EXHIBITION AND EVENTS CENTER
WHEREAS, the City of Brookings desires to construct a multi-use facility consisting of
a double ice rink and animal holding barn facility adjacent to the e�sting MultiPlex Exhibition
and Event Center, and
WHEREAS, the estimated cost of said facility is $5.3 million which is to be funded in
the following manner:
$3.2 million from the second penny sales t�; $900,000.00 from
private sources; $100,000.00 from the City Parks budget; $740,000.00
from the MultiPlex Construction budget; and $360,000.00 from non (75%)
second penny sales tax sources; and
WHEREAS, the City has heretofore, by Resolution No. 25-96, as amended, expressed
its intention to dedicate revenues from the second penny sales tax for capital improvements,
now therefore,
BE TT RESOLVED by the governing body of the City of Brookings, South Dakota, as
follows:
That the City hereby declares its official intent to use a portion ($3.2 million) of the 75%
of the revenues from the 1% sales t�as provided in Resolution No. 25-96 (as amended)for
construction of a multi-purpose double ice rink and holding barn facility to be located adjacent
to the existing MultiPlex E�ibition and Events Center.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City sha11 be authorized, if it deems
appropriate, to issue bonds in the amount of appro}umately $3.2 million to be refunded and paid
by the second penny sales tax.
