ORDINANCE N0 . 11-81
AN ORDINANCE AT?ENDING SECTION NOS . 16-24, 16-26 , AND 16-47
OF THE F.EVISED ORDINANCES OF BROOKINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA, PERTAIN-
ING TO GARBAGE AND TRASH COLLECTION REGULATIONS .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF BROOKINGS ,
SOUTH DAKOT.A:
I . That Section Nos . 16-24, 16-26 , and 16-47 of the Revised
Ordinances of Brookings , South Dakota, be and the same are
hereby amended as follows , to-wit :
Section 16-24. Monthly charges for family domestic units .
The °cost of collection and disposal of refuse for
far.lily damestic units , including trailers in trailer
courts ,. shall fiecome a -charge against the occupant of
eacli :dwelling and shall be payable monthly, together with
o�her public service charges as defined by this city. A
fair and reasoriable charge for the collection of the con-
tents of .not more than two (2) cans or two (2) sealed bags
at each regular collection time, from each domestic unit
shall be', four dollars and fifty cents ($4. 50) per month.
Section 16-26 . Monthly charges for commercial establishments .
The cost of collection and disposal of refuse from
commercial establishments or the public schools or any other
institution or facility not otherwise classified herein
shall become a charge against the occupant of such commer-
cial establishment and shall be payable monthly together
with other public services as defined by this city. A fair
, an�d reasonable charge for the collection of the contents
shall be a minimum of twelve dollars ($12 . 00) per month or
three dollars and fifty cents ($3 . 50) for each two (2). cans
or two (2) sealed bags , whichever amount is greater, said

Apartments and other institutions or facilities utili-
zing one and one half (12) and two (2) cubic yard containers
for trash receptacles shall be charged twenty-two dollars
($22 . 00) per month for the one and one-half (12) cubic yard
container and twenty-five dollars ($25 . 00) per month for
the two (2) cubic yard container, charges being based upon
twice a week pickup . Each additional pickup per week would
authorize an additional monthly charge of eleven dollars and
seventy-five cents ($11 . 75) for the one and one-half (12)
cubic yard containers and fifteen dollars and twenty cents
($15 . 20) for the two (2) cubic yard containers .
Section 16-47 . Charges for use.
Each licensed commercial hauler and each commercial
establishment haulin� its own garbage, rubbish or waste
material shall pay to the city for the use of the sanitary
landfill, per vehicle load or part of a load, the following
charges :
(a) For loose loads of more than two (2) cubic
yards , the sum of fifty cents ($0. 50) per
cubic yard of waste or mat�rial . Minimum
fee , one clollar ($ . 1. 00) .
(b) For all commercial compactor trucks , the sum
of one dollar and fifty cents ($1 . 50) per
cubic yard per rated capacity.
II . That any and all ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed.
