ORDINANCE N0. 9-84
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-35 AND 2-36 OF THE REVISED
ORDINANCES OF BROOKINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA; DESIGNATING APPOINTED
OFFICERS OF THE CITY OF BROOKINGS AND PROVIDING FOR MODE OF
APPOINTMENT AND TERMS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the governing body of the City of
Brookings , South Dakota, that Section 2-35 and 2-36 be and the
same are hereby amended to read as follows, to-wit:
Section 2-35 . Appointed Officers and Mode of Appointment.
Appointed officers of the City of Brookings shall consist
of the Finance Officer, City Attorney, Deputy City
Attorneys, City Engineer and Zoning Officer, Liquor Store
Manager, Street Superintendent, City Health Officer, Deputy
Health Officers,, Fire Chief and Fire Marshal, Chief of
Police, Police Officers and Policemen.
All appointive officers of the City shall be appointed by a
majority vote of the members elected to the City
Commission. Such appointments , except as otherwise pro-
vided by this Code, Ordinance or Statute, shall be made at
the first regular meeting in May of each year.
Section 2-36 . Terms .
Appointive officers shall serve for a period of one (1)
year or such shorter term as may be designated by the City
Commission, or until their successors are appointed and
qualified, subject to the rights of removal as provided by
state statute.
