ORDINANCE NO. 17-90
AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING PARKING SPACES WHICH SHALL BE
ACCESSIBLE TO AND USABLE BY PHYSICALLY DISABLED PERSONS IN THE
CITY OF BROOKINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF
BROOKINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA, AS FOLLOWS, TO-WIT:
I.
Section 34-271. Handicapped Parkina.
The commissioner of public safety is hereby authorized to
determine which parking spaces in the City shall be designated as
parking spaces usable only by substantially disabled persons, and
shall mark or sign such parking spaces accordingly. It shall be
unlawful for any person to park or leave standing a vehicle in or
upon a parking space designated by a sign or other marking
indicating "handicapped parking", unless said vehicle displays a
portable serially numbered certificate or distinctive license
plates issued pursuant to SDCL 32-5-76-76.2, which indicate the
motor vehicle is owned, operated or used in transporting a
substantially disabled person.
II.
All ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
