ORDINANCE NO. 28-91
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A DATE OF APPOINTMENT FOR MEMBERS OF
"THE MAYOR'S ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES" OF THE
CITY OF BROOKINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF BROOKINGS,
SOUTH DAKOTA, AS FOLLOWS, TO—WIT:
I.
Section 1. Appointment of inembers.
The Mayor's Advisory Committee for people with disabilities shall
consist of seven or more members, with five or more members to be
selected and representative of industry, labor, private business,
veterans' organizations, private organizations, and public agencies
interested in handicapped persons, and with one member who is a high
school student and one member who is a college student. Members of
the committee shall be appointed by the Mayor at the first regular
meeting in January of each year, to serve a period of three years,
without compensation. A majority of the members of the committee
shall be residents of the city. The high school and college student
members of the committee shall be appointed to terms which commence on
the first of June.
In the event a vacancy occurs on a date other than the first
Monday of the year, then the vacancy may be filled by appointment for
a term not exceeding three years, which term shall e}cpire on the first
Monday of January.
II.
All Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
