AN ORDINANCE REVISING ORDINANCE SECTION 2-35 AND PERTAINING TO
THE DATE OF APPOINTMENT OF APPOINTED OFFICERS IN THE CITY OF
BROOKINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF BROOKINGS,
SOUTH DAKOTA, AS FOLLOWS, TO-WIT:
I.
Section 2-35. Appointed officers and mode of appointment.
Appointed officers of the City of Brookings shall consist of the
finance officer, city attorney, deputy city attorneys, city engineer
and zoning officer, liquor store manager, street superintendent, city
health officer, deputy health officers, fire chief and fire marshal,
chief of police and police officers.
All appointed officers of the city shall be appointed by a
majority vote of the members elected to the city commission. Such
appointments, except as otherwise provided by this Code, ordinance or
statutes, shall be made at the first regular meeting in January of
each year; except that for the remainder of the calendar year
following adoption of this ordinance, all appointed officers shall be
appointed at the first regular meeting in May for the remainder of the
calendar year following adoption of this ordinance.
II.
All Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
