POSSIBLE ACTIONS TO IMPROVE COMPLIANCE
WITH SNOW REMOVAL PARKING ORDINANCE
October 24, 1994
1. Change ordinance to allow more flexibility in notification of time of
beginning snow removal operations
2. Provide '"SNOW LINE" for people to call 24 hours a day for information
on next snow removal
3. Work with Cable N to provide snow removal information on all possible
channels .
a. Crawl across weather channel
b. Notice on N N
c. Symbol on all channels if possible
4. Police to place stickers on vehicles parked in the street ovemight (in
November) stating:
If snow removal operations had been planned for this time, you would
have received a $25.00 parking ticket and your vehicle would ha"ve been
subject to towing. Please stay advised of possible snow removal by
calling the SNOW LINE 696-SNOW (7669).
Police could log license numbers of cars "stickeredp so they can tell
persons who complain about tickets that they had received a waming.
5. The SNOW LINE number coufd be sent in utility bills as a sticker for the
phone or phone book. We are three weeks too late to get into the phone
book this year.
6. News stories will be run and ads will be placed in the Register and the
Collegian alerting people to the snow parking ordinance and the SNOW
LINE.
