HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 05-1994 . � � ORDIHAHCE H0. 5-94 AN ORDIAAHCE AMEHDING THE ZONING ORDINAHCE OF THE CITY OF BROOKINGS, BY ESTABLISHIHG TEMPORARY ZOHING COHTROLS ARD DECLARING AN EMERGENCY WHEREAS, certain areas of the City of Brookings have changed considerably since the adoption of the Comprehensive Plan in 1966, and neN atudies are necessary to protect the present uses in the area; and to insure that future construction is compatible pith the preeent character of the area and compatible Mith the character of the present structures in the area; and WHEREAS, in order to protect the public health, eafety and general velfere, it is neaessary to temporarily protect this area from further significant change until a study has been completed; that an emergency exists; and WHEREAS, the City is suthorized to adopt temporary zoning controls pursuant to SDCL 11-4-3. 1; THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAIflED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF BROOKINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA, AS FOLLOWS, TO-WIT: I. That temporary zoning controls shall be placed upon the folloMing described area in the City of Brookings, to-Mit: The Temporary Zoning Control Area shall be that area bounded as folloMs: Commencing at the intereection of Sixth Str�et and Sixteenth Avenue, thence West along Sixth Street to the corner of Sixth Avenue; thence north along Sixth Avenue to the aorner of Eleventh Street; thence east along Eleventh Street to the corner of Medary Avenue; thence south along Medary Avenue to the corner of Eighth Street; thence esst along Eight Street to the corner of Sixteenth Avenue; thence south along Sixteenth Avenue to the point of beginning. II. That temporary zoning in the above described area shall be R-2, excepting those areas presently zoned as B-2, 8-2A and R-B4 and excepting properties rrith existing buildings phich rere originally constructed as multi-unit drellings rithin an R-3 zone. III. That an emergency exiats and that this ordinance shall be effective upon its adoption. . j IV. That unless renerred, this Ordinance shall be effective for a period of one (1) year or until modified or appealed, Mhichever is shorter.
