AN ORDINANCE REVISING SECTIONS 34-69 AND 34-71 OF TI�ORDINANCES OF TI�
CITY OF BROOKINGS AND PERTAINING TO PROCEDURE FOR REPORTING ACCIDENTS IN
TI�CITY OF BROOKINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA.
BE IT ORDAINED BY Tf-�GOVERNING BODY OF TI�CITY OF BROOKINGS, SOUTH
DAKOTA AS FOLLOWS, TO-WIT:
I.
Sec. 34-69. Unattended vehicle, property.
The driver of any vehicle which collides with or is involved in an accident with any vehicle or
other property which is unattended resulting in any damage to such other vehicle or property sha11
immediately stop and shall then and there either locate ad notify the operator or owner of such
vehicle or other property of the name and address of the driver and owner of the vehicle striking
the unattended vehicle or property and the license number of his or her vehicle or sha11 attach
securely in a conspicuous place in or on the vehicle or other property which was struck a written
notice giving the name and address of the driver and of the owner and the license number of the
vehicle which struck the unattended vehicle or property. Such driver shall without unnecessary
delay notify the police department of such accident. Every such stop shall be made in a manner so
that obstruction of traffic is minimized.
Sec. 34-71. Immediate notice of accident.
The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in bodily injury to or death of any
person or property damage to an apparent extent of five hundred dollars($500.00) or more to any
one person's property or one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) per accident shall immediately, by the
quickest means of communication, give notice of such accident to the police department.
II.
The provisions of Section 34-70 are included in Section 34-69 as herein amended and Section
34-70 is therefore repealed.
III
All ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
