ORDINANCE NO. 13-96
AN ORDINANCE REVISING SECTION 34-141 OF ORDINANCE 1-96 AND
PERTAINING TO SPEED LIMITS IN THE CITY OF BROOKINGS, SOUTH
DAKOTA.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF BROOKINGS,
SOUTH DAKOTA, AS FOLLOWS:
I.
Sec. 34-141. Maximum Speed Limits Designated.
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or drive any vehicle on any street within the
city at a speed in excess of twenty-five (25) miles per hour, unless signs are erected on streets
within the city designating another speed limit. The following speed limits are hereby established
for the streets and portions of streets enumerated below:

Main Avenue From Front Street to the south city limits 35
Medary Avenue From North Campus Drive to US Highway 14 By-Pass 35
Medary Avenue From US Highway 14 By-Pass to the north city limits 45
22nd Avenue From US Highway 14 By-Pass to the south city limits 35
8th Street South From the west city limits to Twenty-Second Avenue 35
US Highway 14 US Highway 14 from the west city limits southeasterly to
a point 1,425 feet northwesterly of the intersection of US
Highway 14 and Western Avenue in Brookings; 55
Then southeasterly 1,300 feet to a point 125 feet west of
Western Avenue; 45
Then southeasterly and east to a point 210 feet east of
Seventeenth Avenue; 30
Then to a point 1,110 feet east of Seventeenth Avenue; 35
Then to a point 300 feet east of Twenty-Second Avenue; 40
Then to a point 3,600 feet east of Twenty-Second Avenue. 45
US Hwy 14 ByPass From the west city limits to the east city limits 55
II.
Section 34-139 is hereby repealed. All other ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed.
