HomeMy WebLinkAboutSCACMinutes_2017_01_26SWIFTEL CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES 1 Thursday, January 26, 2017 @ 4:00pm Mezzanine Conference Room Present: Rod Schaefer, Lee Ann Pierce, Bridgit Burghardt, Jason Wosje, Kyliegh Cramer Tom Richter, Swiftel Executive Director, Jeremy Lindstad, Assistant Executive Director Matt Chapman, Director of Food and Beverage, Kristina Lanklow, Marketing Manager Jackie Anderson, Business Manager Agenda Discussions:  Rod Schaefer called the meeting to order.  Tom introduced Jordyn Gruber and Ashley Abrahamson, Event Coordinators.  Kyliegh Cramer will be replacing Alan Greg on the Advisory Board.  A new Chair and Vice-Chair will be voted on at the March 30, 2017.  Tom presented November 2016 Financial Information. Tom explained that the competition this year from the venues in our market has had an impact on the Swiftel Center. The seating project in the arena which took approximately 5 weeks to complete also has had an impact on scheduling events.  Kristina provided a hand out with upcoming events include: REZA – January 28, 2017 Hairball – February 4, 2017 Ron White – February 23, 2017 Miranda Lambert – March 3, 2017 RAIN: A Tribute to the Beatles – March 10, 2017 Kristina also handed out the Press Release for the Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign. The Swiftel Center presented a check for $2,234.00 to the Brookings Health System for the new Breast Cancer Patient Champion program. The program is to support local breast cancer patients. Mary Oien Reed will be in charge of the new program at the Brookings Health System.  Matt Chapman reported that the kitchen flooring project was complete, food and beverage has new digital menu boards for the concession stand and also rolling menu boards which are being used to advertise food and drink specials. The Tri-Company Dart Tournament was held January 20 – 22, 2017. Matt is working with a new vendor Farmer Brothers coffee and also working on updating the catering menu.  Jeremy Linstad reported that the seating, floor tile, polishing and digital displays projects were complete.  He is working on the Miranda Lambert concert which will be the largest concert production held at the Swiftel Center. SWIFTEL CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES 2  2017 capital and equipment projects will include new POS for concessions/bars, equipment updates and new power towers that are more compact and portable than the current power distribution we have.  Tom reported that Metabank featured the Swiftel Center in there 2016 Annual Report. Tom passed out copies.  Tom discussed Senate Bill 89. This bill would make the building liable for any injuries if patrons are not permitted to bring weapons in the building if they have a permit.  New Events working on for 2017 include: Ice Fishing Show in November 2017 and Dart Tournament in December.  These events would be annual events each with 5-year contracts.  Meeting was adjourned.  Next meeting March 30 at 4:00 pm.
