HomeMy WebLinkAboutSCACMinutes_2016_09_29Swiftel Center Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes Thursday, September 29, 2016 @ 4:00pm Mezzanine Conference Room Present: Teri Ronning; Lee Ann Pierce; Jeff Weldon; Tom Richter, Swiftel Executive Director; Kristina Lanklow, Marketing Manager, Jeremy Linstad, Swiftel Associate Executive Director Jackie Anderson, Swiftel Center Business Manager. Agenda Discussions:  Teri Ronning called the meeting to order.  The July 28, 2016 minutes were approved.  Tom presented June 2016 Financial Information. According to information the Swiftel Center is tracking on budget. The forecast that was completed for the final 5 months of 2016 indicates -$15,000 over budget.  Kristina provided a hand out and presented the updates for Sales and Marketing. The upcoming October 2016 events include: WILL Luncheon, Pink Ladies Dart Tournament, Bridal Show, Think Local Showcase and the Chris Young Concert with also coincides with Hobo Day. The upcoming November 2016 events include: PRCA Rodeo, WILL Luncheon, Catholic Youth Rally, SD State AA Volleyball Tournament and the Midwest Supercross.  At this time approximately 2500 tickets for the Chris Young Concert have been sold. The goal is to sell approximately 4,000 tickets.  Kristina has been promoting and advertising the Chris Young concert on campus. Several posters have been posted and flyers have been distributed in campus mailboxes.  The Tough Enough to Wear Pink promotion is beginning October 3rd when t-shirts will go on sale. The Swiftel Center Box Office, SDSU Wellness Center and Brookings Health will be selling t-shirts throughout the month of October.  Sponsorship packages are being sold. There is currently a proposal to Pepsi to renew their pouring rights. We have also requested Pepsi to fund the concession stands with digital monitors.  Bid opening is October 4th for the tile project. This will include tiling the concourse, bathrooms and kitchen area. It will be presented as an Action Item at the October 11 council meeting.  Purple LED lights will be lit for Domestic Violence Training Meeting. Pink LED lights will be lit for Pink Ladies Dart Tournament and Cancer Awareness Month.  We have received a letter of recognition from the ABLE Committee (Ability, Belief, Leadership and Equality). This letter is to recognize the Swiftel Center for increasing disabled seating for events. Niche has named Brookings the Best Place to live in South Dakota.  The County has started negotiations with the City for the sale/purchase of County Resource Center.  The 2017 Budget was approved at a recent council meeting.  The 2017 Budget includes a position that is 50 percent Food & Beverage and 50 percent Event Coordinator. This was added because of the new wage law going into effect in December 2016.  Staff Changes: Desarae Miles on maternity leave until December. Jessica Fitterer resigning and moving to St. Paul. Ashley Abrahamson and Jordyn Gruber have been hired to fill the Event Coordinator position and the other position will be the Event/Food & Beverage Coordinator.  Meeting was adjourned.  Next meeting November 17 at 4:00 pm.
