HomeMy WebLinkAboutOpen Forum Handout Indoor Recreation Center Ad Hoc Committee Community Open Forum - June 24, 2015 Purpose Statement: The City of Brookings is committed to a high quality of life. Brookings strives to provide world-class amenities to its citizens through a variety of different avenues, including the parks and recreation system. The purpose of the Indoor Recreation Center Steering Committee is to investigate and propose to the Brookings City Council a financially sustainable center that meets the needs of our citizens, fosters economic development, and improves Brookings quality of life. Timeline: A possible facility plan will be presented to the City Council by December 31, 2015 to act upon. Financial Plan: If viable plan is accepted by the city council for construction planning and bidding, the recreation center will be financed through a combination of taxes, private donations and user fees.
