Indoor Recreation Center Ad Hoc Steering Committee
Meeting Minutes from
July 14, 2015
Attending Participants:
Randy Soma Dan Hansen (via phone) Becka Foerster

1. Justin Sell lead the meeting as Dan Hansen was out of town and joined by phone.
2. Committee discussed the June 24th open forum event and agreed it was a good way to
get community involved and gather their input. Documents discussed:
a. Ranking chart showed Court Sports, Turf Sports and Aquatics as the top three
choices.
b. Comment sheet showed compiled comments and write in information along
with emails that were sent by those that couldn’t attend the open forum
meeting.
c. Facility chart showed current facilities and what amenities they host.
3. Committee members shared a few comments/concerns that were discussed during the
open forum meeting.
a. All city pass that would get you into various facilities for one cost.
b. Tennis groups want a tennis specific floor, not a multi-use floor.
c. Watering hole or a gathering place for people to check-in with a coffee bar or
concessions.
d. Several businesses and entities in town already support the
exercise/cardio/fitness needs.
e. A few concerns about how the facility was going to be paid for, where the facility
would be located and what the cost would be to operate the facility.
Preliminary Decision Highlights:
Eliminate meeting rooms. Have a multipurpose room for services such as: birthday
parties, children activities, senior activities, ect.
Eliminate exercise/cardio/fitness room due to private organizations already
accommodating.
4. Going forward: committee will utilize data/comments from the meeting and start
prioritizing space used for each amenity. This will help get a rough square foot estimate
and help determine costs and location.
5. Next meeting (July 28th) will focus on court and turf flooring/space/needs.
