Presentations on similar facilities. a. Regional Facilities-Pete Colson discussed regional facility tours and conferences he’s attended with highlights on: Multi-Use fields, climbing walls, aquatics, pickle ball/tennis courts, meeting rooms and toddler programming. Pete also discussed the options of having a multi-level facility compared to a one level facility-smaller footprint, site costs, and elevator costs were mentioned. b. Redwood Falls Facility-Jeff Weldon discussed the Redwood Falls Facility that was designed and built while he was the City Administrator in Redwood. This facility houses a four-court gymnasium, a four-lane walking/running track, a conference center, a civic arena, a health & fitness center, and room for future expansion. The facility was led by a committee that had 55 public meetings-from community wide to civic groups. The amenities were identified by community wants and not duplicating what they already had. Marketing was a very important role in getting this facility going. c. Watertown Community Center- JLG architects discussed the site plan and the floor plan of the Watertown Community Center. The focus started with a series of meetings to get groups and clubs involved and find out their highest hopes. A bracket of amenities was made and groups/people placed dots on the chart to see where things were ranked. This allowed them to build the programs and build the budget. The facility has a ground level and a mezzanine (2nd floor.) The facility offers a lot of windows and natural light to make it feel inviting and open. The facility houses a gymnasium, aquatics, open weight area, fitness space, lockers rooms, and administration areas. d. Pierre Recreation & Events Center- ICON Architectural Group was given data that was collected from Pinnacle Sports and took the facility from planning to the end of the project. The facility is designed to be a combination of a recreation center and events center to accommodate community needs and wants. The facility will house a four-court/event center, cardio/fitness areas, classroom spaces, offices and spaces for spectator seating.
