Members Present: Skip Webster, Gary Gramm, Jeff Miller, Carol Rettkowski, Pete Kirchhevel, Jackie Lanning, John Howard, and Tony Sonnenburg. Members Absent: Tim Heaton, Daryl Englund, Brian Lueders, James Weiss, and Mike Fossum. Others Present: Call to Order: Webster called the meeting to order. Howard/Gramm moved to approve the minutes from the November 2012 meeting. All present voted aye. Addition to Agenda: None. Old Business: None New Business: Request for a stop sign on Ash Avenue at its intersection with Vine Street: Lanning received a petition from a student which lives as 1027 Vine Street. She received a great number of signatures requesting a stop sign be installed at this location. A car was driving north-bound on Ash Avenue to take a left turn on Vine Street, and slid up onto the Vine Street boulevard where children were walking on the sidewalk. Lanning drove this area and stated visibility is very good and wide open at this intersection. Police records show one accident in 2008. Lanning discussed the MUTCD warrants for 2-way stop signs. Rettkowski and Webster agree and there shouldn’t be excessive speed on Ash Avenue since it is only a block long. Gramm thought this could be an isolated incident. Lanning will write the student a letter and let her know we are going to monitor the area since the intersection didn’t meet the requirements for a stop sign. Rettkowski/Howard made the motion that the intersection didn’t meet warrants at this time, but the City will monitor the area and Lanning will write the student a letter. All present voted aye. Motion passed. Review and approval of the 2012 Annual Report: The Annual report was sent out for review. There is an update to Tony Sonnenburg from officer to sergeant and updated John Howard as an instructional designer at SDSU. Lanning will update the changes. Howard/Gramm made a motion to approve the amended 2012 Annual report. All present voted aye. Motion passed. Project update for 2013: Lanning gave updates on the street projects that are going on this year. ~ 32nd Avenue north of the Swiftel Center: concrete roadway with curb and gutter from 6th Street to the bypass. This will be finished in 2013 ~ 2nd Phase of the drainage project in the Camelot area. ~ DOT will be constructing 6th Street from the Highway 14 Diagonal to Main Avenue. They will likely start on the west end of 6th Street by the diagonal around Memorial Day. The project will likely be constructed in three phases with one phase closed at a time. ~ 12th Street South and 17th Avenue South: new traffic signal will be installed this summer. ~ 20th Street South and Main Avenue South: a traffic signal is being designed for this intersection with construction in approximately 2014. Member Reports: Rettkowski mentioned the timing on the traffic lights is not enough time at the intersection of 8th Street South and 17th Avenue. Lanning said they are looking into it. Sonnenburg would like to put on next month’s agenda to discuss a possible stop sign at the intersection of Crystal Ridge Drive and Trail Ridge. The next meeting will be February 14th, 2013. Meeting adjourned. Submitted by: Chris Larson
