Agenda Discussions:
Rod called the meeting to order. Matthew motioned to approve the minutes from September 24, 2009.
Teri seconded. The motion passed.
September and October financials were presented.
3rd Quarter Economic Impact and review of Events, Event Day & Attendance for January to September
were presented.
Tom gave an update on the building expansion. JLG presented the updated drawings to the City Council
November 17th. The council gave Jeff the ok to hold public hearing which will be held January 26, 2010
in the City Council chambers to be televised. We feel an open house to be held at the Swiftel Center is
also needed sometime in January before the city meeting. It needs to attract the ordinary person and be
educational to answer questions. A subcommittee of Deb, Matthew, Jenny and Tom will meet to
brainstorm ideas. The expansion is affected by other projects the City has such as the Airport,
Performing Arts Center, McCory Gardens, and SDSU NW quadrant.
Tom presented the events for December 2009 and January 2010. Some events include Rodeo Dance,
Christmas Party, Influenza Summit, Great Plains Wrestling, Swiftel Center basketball Classic, Calf
Show, Gunshow, Midwest Supercross, Pool Tournament, Living History Fair, Youth Wrestling.
Scott reported on building upgrades. There were 8 to 9 contractors here for a lighting walk through of
the Swiftel Center. Bids will be opened December 1st for the first phase of the lighting project. A
contractor has been selected for the arena concrete floor sealing in which the work will be done
December 7th. The county landscaping will be completed next spring with plants being planted. The
cupolas are off the building.
Tom reported on concerts that have been confirmed such as Rodney Carrington and others that we are
working on. Tom passed around surveys from events and positive emails.
Rod adjourned the meeting. Next meeting to be determined due to the City Council Meeting.
