Rod Schaefer, Tom Coughlin, Barb Telkamp; Teri Ronning; Matthew Nelson: Deb Garbers; Al Gregg;
Tom Richter, Swiftel Center Executive Director; Jenny Hammrich, Swiftel Center Director of Sales/Marketing;
Scott Smith, Swiftel Center Director of Operations ; Andrea Hogie, Swiftel Center Business Manager.
Agenda Discussions:
Rod called the meeting to order. Barb motioned to approve the minutes from November 20, 2008. Al
seconded. The motion passed.
Rod Schaefer was reappointed as Chairperson, Matthew Nelson as Vice-Chairperson, Barb Telkamp as
Secretary.
November and December financials were presented. Tom mentioned that we will be finalizing year end
and will be sending all the board members the year end report.
Tom passed around all four quarters of the Economic Impact. The number of events were down from
last year but the attendance stayed about the same.
Tom gave an update on the building expansion. Tom is continually talking with the City Manager to
keep the council moving on the issue and to keep it in the forefront. The expansion is still needed for
the storage, office and meeting spaces.
Jenny presented the board with a copy of the events for February and March 2009. Some events include
Swiftel Thunder, our first theatrical production of Church Basement Ladies, Dart tournament, TNA
Wrestling, Lifelight concert, Larry the Cable Guy. Jenny is working on upgrading our website. She has
changed a few things for the Uncle Sam Jam and donation letters will be going out soon to businesses.
Scott reported on building upgrades. The walls are up next to the bleachers which also added additional
storage areas. He is working with a company for the arena lighting which will be finished in 2009. Also
other items including recycling, general maintenance, catering equipment, and resealing the arena floor.
Tom reported that the City Council on February 10, 2009 during their planning session will again
discuss the Fury Fights Intense Cage Fighting. Tom is prepared to advise the council on the revenue this
event brings into the community. Tom talked about the blizzard we had for Disney Live and how we
compensated patrons with the opportunity to go to the show in Sioux Falls in February. The Tough
Enough campaign has touched many people including soldiers in Iraq. Tom reported on his experience
at the Super Bowl.
Rod adjourned the meeting. Next meeting is scheduled for March 26, 2009 at 4:00pm but we have TNA
wrestling that night so the meeting has been moved to noon on March 26, 2009.
