Center Executive Director; Jenny Hammrich, Swiftel Center Director of Sales/Marketing; Scott Smith, Swiftel
Center Director of Operations.
Agenda Discussions:
Barb called the meeting to order. Matthew motioned to approve the minutes from September 25, 2008.
Rob seconded. The motion passed.
September and October financials were presented. Tom mentioned that we are meeting with VenuWorks
and the City frequently for the year end cash flow.
Tom presented the 3rd quarter Economic Impact. This is usually the slowest quarter of the year and this
year it was the lowest in 4 years.
Tom gave an update on the outdoor marquee. The sign is up! There are more ad panels to be sold.
Landscaping will be done in the spring.
Tom gave an update on the building expansion. HVS presented their findings to the City council on
Tuesday. It validated the study that VenuWorks had performed. However, it did lower the total square
footage. Tom has been talking with Jeff Weldon to have a public strategic planning to be held here at
the building sometime in February or March. Tom is not sure what the next step will be or when.
Jenny presented the board with a copy of the events for November and December 2008. Some events
include Disturbed, Supercross, Holiday parties, BB Classic, and Disney Live. Both the Tough Enough
campaign and the Festival of Champions event went very well.
Scott reported on building upgrades. There will be walls put up next to the bleachers. He is working
with a company for the arena lighting which will be finished in 2009.
Tom reported that the City Council on December 16, 2008 during their planning session will discuss
certain events that are hosted at the Swiftel Center. The event that there is a concern about is the Fury
Fights Intense Cage Fighting. We are hosting a pool tournament in January and a dart tournament in
February. There will be smoking in designated areas which includes the arena. We booked a national
comedian for May 10, 2009.
Barb adjourned the meeting. Next meeting is scheduled for January 29, 2009 at 4:00pm but Tom will be
working at the Superbowl. Therefore we will have to move the meeting. We will send an email when a
date has been finalized.
