A meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board was held on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 5:30 p.m.
at Dakota Nature Park in the Larson Nature Center with board members present as well as the following
department staff: Mitch Pederson (Recreation Manager), Darren Hoff (Recreation Manager).
1. Call Meeting to Order. Board members called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
2. Approval of Minutes. Approval of the July 6th Park Board Meeting Minutes. The board made the
motion to approve the July 6th meeting minutes. Motion was 2nd by board members. All present
voted yes; motion carried.
3. Introduction of new Recreation Managers. Hoff introduced Pederson and himself as new
Recreation Managers. Hoff explained new roles and the positions will be treated as equals. Hoff
announced that Director Pete Colson will be leaving his duties to move to Alaska on August 14th.
4. Indoor Recreation Center Report. Hoff did an in depth overview of what was discussed at the
previous ad hoc committee meeting on what was going to be incorporated into the new
recreation center. Board members were very concerned that there was no weight lifting area
proposed in the new facility. They wanted to know if this was concrete or if they could propose
something to the committee for their ideas.
5. EdgeBrook Golf Course Drainage Project Update. Staff reported bids will be in August 5th and
to the city council by August 11th. $318,000-$344,000 is the rough estimate on the project.
6. Set Date for Park Board Tour. Staff made the proposal to skip the September meeting entirely
and meet October 5th for the Park Board tour. The board made the motion to cancel the
September meeting and meet on October 5th for the Park Board tour. Motion was 2nd by board
members. All present voted yes; motion carried.
7. Adjourn. The board members made the motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion was 2nd by
board members. All present voted yes; motion carried.
Next scheduled meeting. Monday, October 5, 2015 at 5:30 pm.
