of May 3, 2010
Present: Keith Rounds, Jon Schneider, Erik Dahl, September Kirby, Jacqueline Zevenbergen,
June Eng, Sam Dunkle
Following reports, motion was made by Dahl, seconded by Eng that the agenda be approved.
New Board Members Jon Schneider, Jacqueline Zevenbergen and Sam Dunkle were introduced.
Discussion concerned the progress of the Nature Park Master Plan Study. The three days of
meetings in April went well with a great amount of interaction with user groups, and an
excellent turnout for the public open house/input meeting. Board members are, of course,
invited to attend the Ad Hoc Committee meeting on May 10th on Big Muddy’s second visit to
Brookings.
Marc Richards and Pete Colson discussed various aspects of the upcoming Aquatic Center swim
season, which begins May 22nd. One concern regards staffing over supper hour, especially on
weekends. Last season it became difficult to have enough guards available on weekends late in
the season to maintain the minimum number required as the guards rotated off for 45 mintues
for supper. Every effort will be to remain open, but the other option is to close for 45-60
minutes so that all staff goes to supper at one time.
The annual park tour and June meeting is scheduled for June 14th, as the Nature Park planning
meeting is scheduled for June 7th.
