for December 6, 2009
Present: Ryan Krogman, Erik Dahl, Ann Martin, Keith Rounds, June Eng, September Kirby, Kaitlin
Kwasniewski.
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as printed.
Motion was made by Rounds, seconded by Dahl that the agenda be approved as printed. Motion
carried.
Considerable discussion concerned probable opening and closing dates for the Hillcrest Aquatic Center.
Consensus of discussion was that staying open until Labor Day (Sept. 6) was not realistic with only
limited hours of potential use with school starting on August 18th. However, an earlier than normal
opening (weather permitting) and at least a few extra days after school starts could be an option (thru
Aug.22nd). May 19th is last day of class, and summer recreation program classes will start in 2010 on May
25th, so perhaps the pool could be staffed and scheduled to open on May 22nd. This would provide a
season 12 days longer than 2009.
Regarding 2010 fees, consensus is to leave general admission at $4, with some adjustments to season
tickets. An increase from $35 to $45 for an individual season tickets would still leave Brookings at least
$15 less than comparable Aquatic Center in Aberdeen, Mitchell, Watertown and Madison (2009 prices).
Punch cards should be increased to $30 or $35 for 10 punches. Proposed family season ticket prices
would increase $10 (from $90 to $100 family of 3) and $15 (from $110 to $125 family of 4), with
additional children being $15 added to a family ticket. Motion was made by Eng, seconded by Rounds
that final action on length of season and fees to tabled to the January meeting. Motion was approved.
EdgeBrook Golf Course rates are proposed to increase slightly for season tickets, with green fees to
remain at 2009 rates. Proposed fees for the new Executive/Junior 9 hole course are as follows:
General Fee - $7 per round
Punch Card - $10 rounds for $50 (available only to season ticket holders and their guests)
Youth Season Tickets – free use of Executive Nine age 13 thru 18
12 and under youth - free accompanied by adult, adult pays if playing
Final discussion and approval of fees and policies will take place at the January 2010 meeting.
Meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Allyn Frerichs, Recording Secretary
