Hamer called the meeting to order at 12:07 p.m. Present: George, Lawrence, Chandradhar, Penny, Patty, Rebecca 2. Adoption of the Agenda - unanimous consent 3. Action on the Dr. Martin Luther King Contest Awards The committee discussed the essays that they felt were worthy of the awards. The following list was agreed upon. Lawrence moved, Penny seconded to approve the following winners in the appropriate categories. Motion carried. Essay – Middle School Kashfia Rahman - 1st Place $100.00 Mickelson Middle School – 7th Grade Teacher – Mrs. Thaler Parents – Shafiqur & Moursheda Rahman Kayli Oetken - 2nd Place $50.00 Mickelson Middle School – 8th Grade Teacher – Mr. Springman Parents – Russ & Jody Oetken Essay – High School, Grade 9 Kevin Wu - 1st Place $100.00 Brookings High School – 9th Grade Teacher – Mrs. Klinker Parents – Ying Quin & Yajun Wu Lucas Abraham - 2nd Place $75.00 Brookings High School – 9th Grade Teacher – Mrs. Klinker Parents – Ross Abraham & Julie Bergan Abraham Jesse Widner - 3rd Place $50.00 Brookings High School – 9th Grade Teacher – Mrs. Klinker Parents – Brian & Laurel Widner Essay – High School, Grade 11 Zarin Rahman - 1st Place $100.00 Brookings High School – 11th Grade Teacher – Mrs. King Parents – Shafiqur & Moursheda Rahman 4. Rebecca announced that she could not take the Vice Chair position because she would be leaving Brookings this spring. Adjournment – 12:56 pm
