Call to order 12:03 Present: Bayer, Bahr, Deinert, Dweivedi, Hamer, Hauffee, Nolan-Andrino, Novotny Not Present: Bacon and Hatton 2. Adoption of the agenda moved Dwivedi, hamer, passed 3. Approval of minutes – Dwivedi, Bahr, passed 4. Schedule future meeting(s) – Thursday January 19th 2012 at Noon 5. Budget – Review of remaining funds – Butler ceremony will encumber about $500 of the remaining funds. Remaining balance will be spent on office supplies 6. Discussion and possible action to purchase educational materials – no remaining funds 7. Annual Human Rights Award Event Details – January 9th 2012 at Brookings Public Library, public reception. On January 16th the award will be represented at half-time during the Women’s B-Ball game. Steve and Mayor Reed will present the award. Plaque has been ordered. Ads Dec 27th and Jan 3rd. Food from HyVee will be ordered. Press release needs to be written and will be done by Rebecca. 8. Dr. Martin Luther King Day Contest Details – Judging will be Dec 21st at 11:00 in City Hall. Deadline for entries is 12/16 and will be submitted electronically for written essays. 3pts first, 2nd pts second, and 1 pt for third place. Posters will arrive when we arrive on the 21st. Organized by 1 and 2, 3 and 4, and 5 and 6. Find finalist for each age group and then vote. Posters will be hung Saturday morning January 14th and removed two later. 9. Nominating Committee Report/Election of Officers (Chair, Vice Chair, Recorder) – Nominees are Chair Bayer, Vice Chair Hamer, Recorder Bacon, moved to accept by Dwivedi and Hauffe motion carried with current officers abstaining. Agenda item for January, what is the term of chair, etc. ? 10. Proposed Legislation in 2012 – nothing at this time. 11. Announcements/Correspondence/Calendar Dec 16th MLK Poster/Essay Deadline Dec 21 MLK Judging, 11 a.m., City Hall Jan 12 Press Release Jan 14 Hang Posters @ Swiftel Center Jan 16 Dr. MLK Day Jan 24 City Council Presentation January Butler Human Rights Award Reception (Pending) 12.
