Minutes of the Meeting of August 12, 2010 at Noon.
City Hall, 311 Third Avenue
Present: Steve Bayer, Patty Bacon, Ann Marie Bahr, Dwivedi Chandradhar, George Hamer, Jay
Vargas, and Shari Thornes
Not Present: Christine Fabian, Angela Hatton, Penny Hauffe, and Lawrence Novotny
1. Call to order. 12:00pm
2. Adoption of the agenda was so moved by Dwivedi Chandradhar and seconded by Patty
Bacon.
3. Approval of the Minutes was so moved by Dwivedi Chandradhar and seconded by Ann
Marie Bahr.
4. Schedule next meeting September 8, 2010 at Noon.
NEW BUSINESS
5. Fall Film Series Co-Sponsorship: Screening of Out in the Silence with a Q and A with
the film directors on September 14 at Biostress Building Room 103. There was a motion
to co-sponsor the event with no financial obligation by Dwivedi Chandradhar and
seconded by Patty Bacon. **Need the time**
6. Fall Diversity Potluck: October 10th at Old Sanctuary. Post on Fall Diversity Calendar.
Need to make final arrangements at the September meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
7. Community Common Read: Monday at 5:00pm. Secure funding through grants to
provide copy of text to every student in School District.
*Project Update: focus on community aspect. Ann Marie Bahr will contact Dr. Burns
to provide a socio-political point of view and get an additional individual to provide a
view point on women’s issues. Target date between October 10th but before November
3rd; preferably October 18th.
*List of events/calendar: author will be in town November 3rd.
*Select date/venue for Committee Event (subcommittee composed of Steve Bayer,
Ann Marie Bahr, and Shari Thornes)
8. EEOC Training Event Wrap-up Report. Well attended and could be a possible future
event to bring them to town in the near future.
9. Budget Updates: 2011 Request and Current Financial Report. To be viewed on a
monthly basis.
10. Public Awareness Initiatives (Website and Social Networking) Subcommittee
Report. Subcommittee members Patty Bacon, Angela Hatton, and Penny Hauffe. Focus
on content of website Table to next meeting.
11. Announcements/Correspondence/Calendar
October 10th Fall Diversity Potluck
October 11th Native American Day
November 3rd Greg Mortensen presents, Three Cups of Tea
Proposition 8 did not pass legislation
