Minutes of the Special Meeting of January 7, 2010 at 12:05 a.m.
City Hall, 311 Third Avenue
Present: Ashley Kueker, Chanradhar Dwivedi, Steve Bayer, Angela Hatton, George
Hamer, Penny Hauffe, Ann Marie Bahr (phone), Patty Bacon (Phone),
Lawrence Novotny, and Shari Thornes
Not Present: Diane Nagy, Jay Vargas

1. Call to Order: 12:05 p.m.
2. Adoption of the Agenda was so moved by Dwivedi Chandradhar, seconded by
George Hamer and approved by voice vote.
3. Special presentation from Equality South Dakota
Karen Mudd presented a slide show (powerpoint) on Equality South Dakota, to be
emailed to all members.
The new bill will add: age, sexual orientation, gender identity, military/veteran status,
and familial status.
Equality South Dakota – mission: the well being of gay and transgender South
Dakotans and their families.
Awaiting sponsorship in both the SD House (Deb Peters (Hartford) has said she will
sponsor) and Senate (Craig Teesen from Rapid City will likely sponsor) in order to
introduce bill. They have a house sponsor and believe a Senate sponsor is near.
Motion to endorse law change when bill becomes official: moved by Hamer and
seconded by Hauffee approved b y voice vote
4. Adjournment was voiced at 12:55 p.m. .
5. Next meeting: January 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.
February 10, 2010 at 12:00 p.m.
