Several members of the Committee met with Thomas Barthalow on site downtown to review his accessible parking concerns related to snow removal. NEW BUSINESS: Barrier Awareness Days – Heylens reported all arrangements had been made for this year’s Barrier Awareness Days. PROJECT & ISSUE UPDATES: Myths & Facts Brochure – Lindell said she has gathered a lot of information and will sift it down into a draft brochure and email to the committee prior to next month’s meeting. Accessible Parking Brochure - Thornes said her staff is working on a mailing list of all Brookings area businesses for the brochure distribution. The brochure will also be mailed to regional contractors, architectural and engineering firms. Kuechenmeister has already prepared the cover letter to accompany the brochure. Miller and Kuechenmeister will meet with the Brookings Register reporter for a feature article to promote the brochure. Snow Removal Awareness – Miller will work with Thornes on a letter to the editor. 2010 National ADA Symposium – ADA Leadership Certification – Thornes reminded the group certification is required to qualify for the travel stipend. Correspondence/Announcements/Calendar June 21-23 National ADA Symposium Transportation Board Report – Hartenhoff-Crooks attended the Feb. 16th Transportation Board and reported that Terrell Spence is doing a good job as the new chair. There is a new taxi service in town run by Tom Aulner, but does it not receive a city subsidy and doesn’t not provide accessible transportation. She noted that because BATA receives Federal funding, it cannot compete with local providers; however, it is not an issue in this case. Meeting adjourned at 2:35 p.m. Submitted by Shari Thornes
