Call to Order – Dr. Merritt Warren called the Board of Health meeting to order on Thursday, June 2nd, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Brookings Regional Landfill. Committee Members present: Dr. Merritt Warren, Robert McGrath, Paul Irwin, Trish Matson-Buus, Robert Brotsky and Al Patin. . Committee Members absent: Jesse Ronning, Ryan Krogman and Roberta Wagner. Others present: Todd Langland 2. Approve Agenda: (Irwin/Matson-Buus) Motion to approve agenda. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. 3. Approval of Minutes: (Matson-Buus/McGrath) Motion to approve minutes for the November 12th, 2015 Minutes. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. 4. Air Quality Permit: Director Langland informed the board the Air Quality Permit was completed in December and sent in to the Waste Management Department for review. 5. Spring Clean Up Recap: The board reviewed the spring clean up recap and commented on the decrease in cost and tons of material that was received for the event: 6. Paint Exchange Recap: The board reviewed the paint exchange recap and were surprised how the program continues to grow each year. Director Langland told the board that the quality of good paint received that is recycled has improved greatly and that makes the gallons recycled of reusable paint increase. 7. Budget Review: Director Langland reviewed the CIP part of the budget for the Solid Waste Collection and the Landfill. The board was informed about the new automated 14-yard truck we looking at purchasing in the future. The truck would be used for alley and trailer court pickups. The landfill CIP was reviewed and the Director went over the purchase of a new gravel truck to replace the one that is 12 years old, the insulation and heating of the building south of the office area. He explained with the increase in the size of the equipment and growth of the community the once call recycling building is being used more for storing equipment. The landfill will also purchase a new pickup. 8. Other Items & Reports: Director Langland informed the member that South Dakota DENR has funds available for a tire cleanup. The Brookings Regional Landfill will be the drop off point for the collection. The state will cover 80% 0f the disposal fees and the City will be responsible for 20%. 9.
