Board of Health
June 25th, 2015
OFFICIAL MINUTES
1. Call to Order – Robert McGrath called the Board of Health meeting to order on
Thursday, June 25th, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Brookings Regional Landfill.
Committee Members present: Robert McGrath, Paul Irwin, Trish Matson-Buus, Roberta
Wagner, Bob Brotsky, and Al Patin.

Committee Members absent: Jesse Ronning, Ryan Krogman and Dr. Merritt Warren
Others present: Todd Langland
2. Approve Agenda: (Irwin/Wagner) Motion to approve agenda.
All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED.
3. Approval of Minutes: (Matson-Buus/Brotsky) Motion to approve minutes for the March 5th,,
2015 Minutes. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED.
4. Landfill permit update: The landfills permit process is in the final stages. The Department
of Environmental and Natural Resources has approved the permit, which includes the vertical
expansion they will now publish the Notice of Hearing for 30 days and the permit will then be
issues.
5. Spring Clean up Recap: The board reviewed the Spring Clean Up number for 2015 and
commented that they were consistent with the previous year’s history.
6. Paint Exchange Recap: The board reviewed the Paint Exchange number for 2015 and was
happy that it has continued to be very successful for our community.
7. Budget Review: Director of Solid Waste Review the Capital Improvement plan for the 2016
budget year. The CIP has not been approved by council and there are more scheduled meeting in
July for both the CIP and operating expenses.
8. Other Items and reports: Bob McGrath will give a short report at the annual Mayor Coffee
and we discussed some items that he could touch on. One is the vertical Expansion and the other
is how the community has jumped on the recycling program and we have seen our tons and
number of residents recycling go up.
9. Next meeting date: The next meeting will be on November, 2015
