OFFICIAL MINUTES
Dr. Merritt Warren called the Board of Health meeting to order on Tuesday, June 4th,
2013 at 7:00 p.m. at The Brookings Regional Landfill.
Committee Members present: Dennis Falken, Pat Lyons, Robert McGrath, Roberta
Wagner, Shari Landmark, Trish Matson Buus and Dr. Merritt Warren
.
Committee Members absent: Paul Irwin and Jesse Ronning
Others present: Todd Langland
I. Approval of Minutes: (McGrath/Matson Buus) Motion to approve minutes for the
February 21st, 2013 meeting.
All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED.
II. Additions to agenda: None
III. Approve Agenda: (Matson Buus/Lyons) Motion to approve agenda.
All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED.
IV. Spring Clean Up Report 2013: The costs were up from 2012 and the City is going
to enforce certain items that are not to be collected on curb for 2014. The departments
that work the cleanup will be meeting in the future to set the guidelines. Attached below
is the report:

V. Paint Exchange Report: The City Landfill held the Annual paint exchange in April
and had a good turnout based on the poor weather we had. Attached below is the recap:

VI. Recycling Carts update: The Solid Waste Collection department was busy the
month of March and part of April putting the new recycling carts together and delivering
them to thr residents that are recycling. The carts were funded by a grant from the DENR.
To date 3,200 carts are out and we are averaging about ten carts per week. The response
from the residents has been amazing.
VII. Update on Garbage Route Changes: The garbage routes changed the first of
April and everything has gone well. The residents are getting their garbage carts out on
time for the most part.
VIII. Other Business: The SDSWMA Fall Conference will be in Mandan, North
Dakota on September 10th thru the 12th. Jody and I will be attending.
IX. Next Meeting Date: (October 10th, 2013) at City/County Building
