November 29th, 2012
OFFICIAL MINUTES
Dr. Merritt Warren called the Board of Health meeting to order on Thursday,
November 29th, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.
Committee Members present: Paul Irwin, Pat Lyons, Al Gregg, Robert McGrath,
Roberta Wagner, Jesse Ronning, Trish Matson Buus and Dr. Merritt Warren
.
Committee Members absent: Shari Landmark
Others present: Todd Langland, Gwen Madsen
I. Approval of Minutes: (Gregg/McGrath) Motion to approve minutes for the
August 16th, 2012 meeting.
All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED.
II. Additions to agenda: None
III. Approve Agenda: (Ronning/Wagner) Motion to approve agenda.
All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED.
IV. Update Budget: There are no changes to the 2012 budget. The landfill will
transfer the same amount of $525,000.00 in 2013.
V. Update on Madison Request: We approximate 500 ton per year that would be
brought to the Landfill. The Landfill would not change its tipping fees of $44.00 per ton
if the City of Madison chooses our site for disposal of their garbage.
VI. Annual Report Draft: (Programs & Services) Replace the budgeted amount
for the new automated garbage truck with the actual bid of $231,022.00 – Also, the cost
of the screener from the City of Sioux Falls was $34,800.00 and the purchase of a
portable air compressor for $15,086.00 (Goals & Objectives) Remove the second line
item
VII. Update on Grant Funding/Carts/Bidding: We had requested $232,000 for
funding and we were given $155,000 – this will allow us to purchase 2700 carts. We can
apply again in January for additional funds for more carts. The opening of bids for
recycling carts will take place on December 4th.
VIII. Other Business: The Landfill has completed the purchase of the screener from
the City of Sioux Falls for $34,800.00
