HomeMy WebLinkAboutHealthMinutes_2009_11_05Board of Health November 5th, 2009 OFFICIAL MINUTES Dr. Merritt Warren called the Board of Health meeting to order on Thursday, November 5th, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the meeting room at the City Hall. Committee Members present: Pat Lyons, LuAnn Napton, Trish Matson-Buus, Roberta Wagner, Al Gregg and Jesse Ronning . Committee Members absent: Karen Cook and Paul Irwin Others present: Todd Langland and Bob McGrath 1. Approval of Minutes: (Matson-Buus/Lyons) Motion to approve minutes for the August 19th, 2009 meeting. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. 2. Additions to agenda: no Additions 3. Approve Agenda: (Napton/Matson-Buus) Motion to approve agenda. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. 4. Electronic Storage Building update – The new electronic storage building is finished and we have received some small items to date. Bob informed the members that he is in the process of drafting up specs to bid the electronic waste. The current bid limit is $ 25,000 and he is estimating that we will take enough e-waste in a year’s time to surpass the bid limit. The landfill will be bidding the waste in two separate categories. The first one will be electronic waste such as TV’s, computers, microwaves, cell phones, and other general small appliances. The second will be special waste like mercury switches, fluorescent bulbs, batteries and other material as needed. 5. POD Clinic – A clinic is set for November 12th, 2009. There will be 1,400 doses on hand for use. Nine Hundred doses are for shots and five hundred are for the nose spray. This clinic is geared for heath care workers and is from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A second clinic will be held on November 18th, 2009 at the Brookings High School for ages 4 to 18 years old from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 6.
