HomeMy WebLinkAboutHealthMinutes_2008_11_18 Board of Health November 18th, 2008 OFFICIAL MINUTES Dr. Merritt Warren called the Board of Health meeting to order on Tuesday, November 18th, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the meeting in City Hall. Committee Members present: Dr. Merritt Warren, Emil Klavetter, Pat Lyons, Roberta Wagner, LuAnn Napton, Jesse Ronning and Paul Irwin . Committee Members absent: Karen Cook and Trish Matson Buus Others present: Robert McGrath and Todd Langland 1. Approval of Minutes: (Klavetter/Lyons ) Motion to approve minutes for the August 19th, 2008 meeting. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. 2. Additions to agenda: no Additions 3. Approve Agenda: (Napton/Irwin )Motion to approve agenda. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. 4. 2008 Budget Update – The City Council made no changes to the Landfill and Collection budgets and first reading of the budgets is set for August 26th, 2008 and final reading is on September 9th, 2008. So, the budgets are set for 2009. 5. Electronic Waste Recap: Bob presented the Board of Health members with the recap for the September Electronic waste program. There is money set aside in the budget for the year 2009 to build a building to store the waste as it comes into the landfill. This will mean we will discontinue the weekend program. Update Pandemic Influenza Planning- Bob gave an update on the planning and they are setting up times to visit the schools to enhance the students about the influenza program that is being set up in the Brookings area. There are also targeting the shoppers during the holiday seasons. In the spring they will be setting up to contact all the churches in Brookings. 7. Other Business – The Board of Health would like to thank Emil Klavetter for all his years of service as the Brookings County Representative. The next meeting will be set for January 2009. 8.
