HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCMinutes_2016_04_19 ° 419 Brookings City Council April 19, 2016 The Brookings City Council canvassed the April 12, 2016 Election Resuits at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall with the following members present: Mayor Tim Reed, Council Members Keith Corbett, Dan Hansen, Ope Niemeyer, Jael Thorpe, David M. Meyer, and Patty Bacon. City Attorney Steve Britzman, City Manager Jeffrey Weldon, and City Clerk Shari Thornes were also present. The Brookings City Council held a Study Session on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 5:00 p.m., at City Hall with the following members present: Mayor Tim Reed, Council Members Keith Corbett, Dan Hansen, Ope Niemeyer, Jael Thorpe, David M. Meyer, and Patty Bacon. City Attorney Steve Britzman, City Manager Jeffrey Weldon, and City Clerk Shari Thornes were also present. Resolution 16-035 - Election Canvass. A motion was made by Council Member Bacon, seconded by Council Member Hansen, that Resolution 16-035, a Resolution Canvassing the April 12, 2016 Municipal Election Ballots, be approved. The motion was carried by the following vote: Yes: 7 - Reed, Bacon, Meyer, Hansen, Corbett, Niemeyer, and Thorpe. Resolution 16-035 - Canvassing the April 12, 2016 Municipal Election Whereas, on the 12th day of April, 2016, there was held in the City of Brookings, South Dakota, an election for the purpose electing two 3-Year Term City Council Members, one 2-Year Term City Council Member, Tax Levy Opt-Out for funding of a new indoor Recreation Center, and Referred Ordinance 16-002, an Ordinance establishing procedures for the issuance of ten (10) permits for individuals holding permits to keep up to six (6) hen chickens in the City of Brookings during the pilot project until August 1, 2017; and Whereas, the judges and clerks of said election have returned to the City Council of the City of Brookings the official results for the purpose of the Official Canvass; and Whereas, the City Council on April 19, 2016 has canvassed the results for the purpose of determining the official election outcome; and Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved by the City Councit of the City of Brookings, South Dakota that the official vote at the City Election held April 12, 2016 was as follows: School City Council Holln Doug Keith W. Discussion topics included an update from United Way, parking near crosswalks, a review of responses to Brookings Marketplace Development Request for Proposals, and City Council Ex-Officio Reports. Ad'ourn.
