ORDINANCE NO. 22-97
AN ORDINANCE REVISING THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF
BROOKINGS PERTAINING TO ADDITIONAL YARD REGULATIONS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF BROOKINGS,
SOUTH DAKOTA, THAT ARTICLE VII, CHAPTER 50, THE 1994 REVISED ZONING
ORDINANCE SHALL BE AMENDED, AS FOLLOWS,TO-WIT:
I.
50.70340
Interior Trees.
Twenty percent (20%) of the trees required in Section 50.70.336 shall be planted in the interior of
any parking lot containing 20,000 square feet or more of parking area.
50.70.344
Landscape Areas
Sites with gravel, asphalt, pavement or other surfacing material in excess of 5,000 square feet and
intended for parking purposes, shall provide a minimum eight foot (8') wide landscape area along
any right-of-way.
Exception:
1. On corner lots, required landscape areas which contain less than 250 square feet
may incorporate their required square footage into a landscaped area at the
intersection corner.
50.70.348
Ground Cover
For any of the areas required to be maintained as landscaping, not more than fifty percent (50%) of
the area shall be covered by non-living landscaping material.
For any of the areas required to be maintained as landscaping, a landscape plan involving
living and non-living ground cover shall be required and shall be submitted for approval by the City
Engineer's Department
II.
All ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
