Resolution of Intent to Lease Real Property to Private Person (City Farm land)
Whereas, the City of Brookings opened bids for approximately 120 acres of Landfill
Farm Land Lease for the City-owned parcel located in Section 8-T110N-R49W located
north of the Brookings Regional Landfill on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 1:30 PM at the
Brookings City & County Government Center; and
Whereas, the City of Brookings has received the following bids for Landfill Farm Land
Lease: Daniel Luze, Elkton, SD - $211.00/acre, and David Rochel, Aurora, SD
$154.25/acre.
The lease will be for a period of (5) five years, commencing on January 1, 2016 and
ending on December 31, 2020. Annual rent payment will be due on April 1 St of each
year. If a portion of the farm land is used for Solid Waste activities, the number of acres
to be paid for will be adjusted at the bid price of$211.00 per acre.
Now Therefore, Be It Resolved that the high bid of Daniel Luze, Elkton, SD for $211.00
per acre be accepted.
Be it Further Noted, that a public Hearing on this Resolution was held on June 23, 2015
at 6:00 o'clock P.M. in the Chambers of the City & County Government Center and that
all persons w�re given an opportunity to be heard on the intent to lease real property.
Passed and approved this 23`d day of June, 2015.
